Coming tech trends — cellphones as wallets, shopping carts giving recipes


Cellphones functioning as “electronic wallets,” shopping carts that provide recipes and a greater ability to command electronic devices with human gestures are some of the technological trends expected to emerge in the coming year and beyond.

Business-consulting group PwC released a report Tuesday outlining some of the ways technology will be advanced in 2011 — or not too long after — to change the ways people go about their daily lives.

More opportunities to make payments using mobile devices is something Canadians should expect in the coming year, said David Jacobson, director of emerging technologies at PwC.
